Gustami

Welcome to Gustami: Birmingham's Hidden Italian Gem

Our Story: From Italy with Love

Gustami Restaurant Owners

Behind the kitchen doors at Gustami are the two of us, Raffaele and Silvio—two lifelong hospitality professionals who brought our deep Italian roots straight to Birmingham. Our story bridges two completely different, rich culinary worlds of Italy. I, Raffaele, was born in Milan, the proud land of velvety risottos, but my family ancestry is deeply rooted in Bologna and Modena—the undisputed capitals of fresh, handmade pasta and slow-cooked lasagna.

My partner, Silvio, hails from Cagliari, bringing with him the untamed flavours and generational secrets of Sardinian culinary traditions.

Having both dedicated decades of our lives to the hospitality industry, we poured all our shared experience, passion, and distinct heritage into Gustami. Every dish we serve is a direct reflection of our personal journeys, combining northern pasta craftsmanship with southern island soul to give you an unforgettably authentic dining experience.

The Food: Tradition on Every Plate

At Gustami, we are passionate about bringing the true heart of Italian home cooking straight to your table. Every day, our kitchen comes alive with the aromas of freshly baked focaccia bread and crispy hand-crafted pizzas, alongside rich, slow-simmered classic pasta sauces. We take immense pride in our authentic family recipes, from comforting traditional starters to our signature handmade tortelloni stuffed with spinach and ricotta, and our crowd-favourite homemade tiramisu. Beyond our main menu, we love to share unique regional traditions. Be sure to check our rotating specials board, where we regularly feature exclusive Sardinian specialties inspired by our roots. Regular additions include salsiccia cagliaritana (our house-made Sardinian pork sausage infused with fennel) and lorigghitas—a rare, beautiful hand-braided ring pasta that catches sauces perfectly. For us, Italian food isn’t just about dining—it’s an unpretentious celebration of family, tradition, and honest, comforting flavours.

Our Location: Birmingham's Hidden Gem

We might be tucked away off the main drag at 4 King Edwards Road, but our slightly hidden location is exactly what makes us Birmingham’s best-kept secret. While our exterior sits quietly away from the busy streets, we are actually just a literal stone’s throw from the Utilita Arena, right on the edge of the historic Jewellery Quarter, and an easy stroll from the city centre. Think of us as your cozy, inner-city escape. Stepping through our door transports you into a warm, Italian bistro bursting with rustic charm. For those beautiful warmer days, we have also opened up a lovely outdoor seating terrace where you can dine alfresco away from the direct noise of city traffic. We think the short walk off the beaten track is entirely worth it for a genuine taste of Italy—whether you’re escaping the pre-concert crowds or settling in for a long, lingering family dinner with us.

Ci vediamo presto!
